The City of Bagheria inaugurates “Sports in the Parks” and enters the
Sport and Health open-air gymnasium
Saturday, March 9 at 4 p.m. at Butera Square
Former athlete Antonino Passarello will christen the Island of Sports in Piazza Butera Bagheria (Palermo) on March 9, 2024 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The City of Bagheria enters the big open-air gymnasium of Sport and Health S.p.A.
The Palermo municipality, in fact, joins the Sport in the Parks project, conceived by Sport and Health S.p.A. (the state company for the promotion of sports and healthy lifestyles) and promoted together with ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities). The project embraces all of Italy, uniting people from north to south through outdoor sports and thus adheres to a new model of using public green spaces for free weekend sports practice for everyone and without age limits.
The initiative will be presented Saturday, March 9, from 4 p.m. at Butera Square in Bagheria.
After many open parks throughout the country, it is now the City of Bagheria, which has always been attentive to the well-being and health of its citizens, that joins the promotion of wellness in gardens, parks and urban areas.
On Sunday, March 10, sports activities will begin from 9:30 a. m. with chess for adults and children and minibasket for children ages 5 to 7 and 8 to 11, led by the amateur sports association ASDs: Pedoni Uniti, Pallacanestro Bagheria ’92, Atletica Bagheria, Natura e Sport, Il Gabbiano Sostegno Docet, beneficiaries of the project funds. The party will last until 1 p.m.
Presenting the initiative and the program in an institutional moment with: the Mayor of Bagheria, Filippo Maria Tripoli, the councillor for Communication Giusy Chiello, the councillor of ANCI Sicilia, Antonio Rini, the regional coordinator of Sport and Health S.p.A., Germana Vinci, the coordinator of Sport in the Parks of the Municipality of Bagheria, Professor Pietro Aiello, the representatives of amateur sports associations.
Also present will be Baghdad sports testimonial Antonino Passarello, a former national-level athlete in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles, has 12 regional championship titles. He has a degree in computer engineering and is now a support teacher. He competed for Polisportiva Atletica Bagheria and was coached by Professor Tommaso Ticali.
Starting Sunday, March 10, for every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for a year, sports islands will be set up in Butera Square where associations will take turns.
The only requirement to participate is to have a medical certificate for physical activity and the completion of releases/authorization for the publication of images and video footage.
