<<Life knocks down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one – says the artist, who adds – a Sicily is an angular land, steeped in beauty and bitter contradictions, cradle of myths, legends, amazing landscapes, fascinating artistic beauty rooted in a history rich in cultural mixes. A beauty often obscured by tragic events that overshadow it. Art shifts this veil to bring to light the splendor of colors and the warmth of Sicily’s landscapes, magnificent glimpses often ignored by distracted and hasty gazes, immortalized with love on canvases to make them eternal and rediscover the true soul of a land of the sea to love>>.
Maria Silvana Lanza is a Bagherese painter who has manifested her predisposition for art since childhood. After adolescence, painting became her true passion and expression of her soul, and over the years she developed a propensity for expository work, participating with her art in events and demonstrations of social and cultural commitment with paintings that depict glimpses of Sicily and tell of her deep love for her native land, steeped in beauty and contradictions. The painter’s artistic language is extremely varied, leading her to range from highly realistic portraits to landscapes of her homeland to abstractionism, distinguished by bright and vivid colors that evoke the warmth of the southern sun. However, there is also no shortage of works with more subdued and nuanced tones in her creations, with a complex visual language and expression of a timeless painting.
