Salaparuta wineries in Casteldaccia: photographs of New York by Roberto Sardina
The exhibition can be visited from May 18 to June 17
An exciting exploration of urban life in the American metropolis is the focus of the photo exhibition “New York City. Urban Snapshot” by Roberto Sardina, from May 18 at Cantine Duca di Salaparuta in Casteldaccia.
Presenting two distinctive installations, the exhibition takes viewers on a fascinating journey through the streets and squares of this iconic city. The images capture the overwhelming energy of Times Square, the lively atmosphere of the “Subway,” the majesty of the Hudson River, and the timeless elegance of Fifth Avenue.
The exhibition’s first installation is an homage to the traditional Sicilian cart. Throughout the exhibition, viewers have the opportunity to admire the iconic cart, long dreamed of and lovingly cared for by Giuseppe Aiello, its proud owner. Masterfully painted by master Bruno Caruso and the Ducato brothers of Bagheria, the cart took part, along with six other carts, in New York City’s “Columbus Day” parade in October 2023.
In the second installation, Roberto Sardina made a significant artistic choice: to photograph New York City in black and white. This decision is not accidental and aims to emphasize the inherent essence of the city through simplicity and complexity.
Black and white, with its reduced tonal range, allows a focus on the shapes, lines and geometries that make up the urban fabric of New York City.
The exhibition can be visited with free admission, May 18 through June 17, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cantine Duca di Salaparuta, Via Nazionale s.s. 113 – n. 27 – 90014 Casteldaccia PA.
