Opens its doors with a concert by “Giovanni Sollima”
Animaphix “New Contemporary Languages Film Festival”

Kicking off on July 22 at Villa Cattolica, home of the Guttuso Museum, is the tenth edition of Animaphix, the festival of experimental animation cinema and New Contemporary Languages, conceived by Rosalba Colla and organized by the QB cultural association, with the honorary sponsorship of the Municipality of Bagheria and the Sicilia Film Commission, Assessorato Turismo Sport e Spettacolo of the Sicilian Region.
The festival will be presented to the press at 5:30 p.m. July 22 at Villa Cattolica in Bagheria. The presentation will be followed by a guided tour of the museum for journalists and partners and a welcome drink.
It will get into the heart of the festival at 9 p.m., after the institutional greetings, with “Sonámbulo”, an exclusive cine-concert by Giovanni Sollima – one of the greatest virtuosos of the cello and an internationally renowned composer – who will retrace the pictorial works of Bulgarian director and artist, Canadian adopted Theodore Ushev, offering those present music ranging from baroque to rock, to metal.
The press conference will be attended by festival creator Rosalba Colla, co-artistic director Andrea Martignoni, Bagheria mayor Filippo Maria Tripoli and vice mayor and culture councillor Daniele Vella. The artists who will exhibit as part of the festival and the directors of the films featured in this tenth edition will be present. Moderating the conference will be journalist Marina Mancini.

Admission to the concert is free while seats last. The press conference is aimed at journalists and festival partners.

Animaphix has always aimed to promote and disseminate auteur animated cinema and video art in Sicily, with an eye toward the new frontiers of audiovisuals, enhancing high quality authors and productions and opening the door to collaborations, productions and co-productions with other European countries, with a program full of events for a diverse audience. A festival that has chosen Bagheria and the Guttuso Museum, and that aims to promote the image of Sicily through cinema and new contemporary languages.
