On July 31 at 8:30 p.m. in the garden of Villa Butera, Midsummer concert by the St. Ignatius of Loyola Choir conducted by Maestro Salvatore De Giorgi.
The concert, desired by the municipal administration with Mayor Filippo Tripoli, and the collaboration of Councillor Antonella Insinga and Councillor Providence Tripoli, is sponsored by the City of Bagheria and will offer pieces of music from the 1950s , brightening with sweet notes the warm summer evening.
Salvatore De Giorgi, piano.
He graduated in piano in 1992 from the Conservatory of Music V. Bellini of Palermo with highest honors, he perfected himself with M° Giuseppe La Licata, winning 3rd prize overall in the A.M.A. Calabria competition. In the same year he began his first approach to opera music by studying with M° Gianfranco Spinnato stage director at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, as a collaborating maestro. He has participated in numerous concerts with the Zephir ensemble on the national territory, collaborated with the Pop Players Ensemble , intervened in countless regional events, as well as collaborated in multiple local and national musical, opera and operetta productions as a collaborating maestro . Since 1993 he has collaborated as FF.AA musical referent in Rome; in 2017 he was awarded Accademico di SICILIA , currently he is music director of the Cultural Association “Bel canto in salotto” in Palermo.
Saint Ignatius of Loyola Choir.
The St. Ignatius of Loyola Choir was formed in February 2011 at the initiative of St. Ignatius of Loyola Association President Sabina Greco. In just a few months, the polyphonic group has performed numerous concerts: on the occasion of the feast in honor of St. Ignatius, at Christmas time, as part of the 388th and 389th Festino in honor of Santa Rosalia, etc. In November 2012 the choir took part in the National Convention of Schole cantorum organized by the Italian Association Santa Cecilia, animating a training meeting in the Vatican presided over by Pope Benedict XVI, together with five thousand singers from various parts. In 2013, the group was called to be part of the Guiding Choir that animated the Beatification Celebration of Don Pino Puglisi that took place in Palermo, at the Foro Italico. In April 2016, together with other polyphonic ensembles, he accompanied Argentine soprano Haydée Dabusti, a friend of Pope Francis, in a highly appreciated concert at the S. Domenico Church in Palermo. In December 2016 it participated in Lucina Lanzara’s Dies Natalis performance and on May 16, 2017 in Lucina Lanzara’s Canto della Santuzza performance in honor of Palermo’s patron saint Santa Rosalia. The proposed repertoire, ranges from the classics of sacred and secular polyphony to contemporary productions.
