Feast of St. Joseph 2024:
final program is presented on July 31
It will take place from August 3 to 5, with a preview on July 31, Baarìa Fest 2024, the program of events created to celebrate the great city event that the city of Bagheria has always organized in honor of the patron saint St. Joseph.
The final program, which is the result of a collaboration of different departments including also some city councilors and local associations, will be presented to the City on Wednesday, July 31, at 4 p.m. in the Fumagalli – Martorana hall at Villa Butera.
Among the main and usual events, religious and secular: the customary procession of the Saint, the parade of Sicilian carts, the Alborate that announce the festivity as well as the illuminations, and the Bagheria drummers who will enliven the Bagheria streets with their performances typical of traditional Sicilian events and the unfailing fireworks. The full program at a press conference on Wednesday, July 31.
Present at the conference will be the mayor of Bagheria, Filippo Maria Tripoli, and the archpriest of Bagheria, Father Giovanni La Mendola.
Although the Feast of St. Joseph falls on March 19, historically and traditionally the festivities have always been held on the first weekend of August, to allow the many Bagherese citizens who have emigrated to return to their hometown and relive the tradition of the place together with distant family members and all those who want to enjoy the beauty and tradition of Sicily and Bagheria.
The three days, which will have as a common thread the popular, cultural, historical and artistic tradition and Sicilian and Bagherese food and wine, aim to promote moments of aggregation and sharing that enhance the Sicilian and Bagherese tradition and will feature associations, professionals, stakeholders of the Sicilian territory and who want to promote Sicilianity and Bagherese tradition.
The conference, aimed at journalists, is also open to citizens and will be streamed live on the municipality’s facebook page.
