‘Epiphany in Art’: collective art exhibition at Villa Butera
From Monday 09 to 18 December 2024
On Monday 9 December 2024 at 5 p.m., the vernissage will be inaugurated: ‘Epiphany in Art’, a collective art exhibition organised by the Faro Convention Citizens of Europe association and curated by Rosa Anna Argento, which will be on display at Villa Butera until 18 December 2024.
The vernissage, which will display the works of 24 artists, has the intention of expressing themselves in the heterogeneity of visions and recounting their own EPIPHANY at a time of great social concerns, perhaps to restore value to emotions and not to forget that ‘everything is on the shoulders of the poor people’ just as responsibility and hope were all on the shoulders of that fragile and almost naked ‘Baby Jesus’ amidst the cold and frost of human nefariousness. On 18 December, there will be the final finissage, with a poetry reading dedicated to Ignazio Buttitta in which municipal councillor Giusy Chiello will interpret some of the Baghera poet’s most beautiful verses. At the end, certificates of participation will be handed out and a toast to the New Year as a wish for peace for all the peoples of the world.
At the inauguration of the exhibition, which is one of the events planned by the municipal administration for Christmas 2024, the mayor of Bagheria Filippo Maria Tripoli, the president of the Council Andrea Sciortino, the councillor for culture Daniele Vella and the councillor with responsibility for communication Giusi Chiello, promoter of the initiative, will be present for institutional greetings.
Art hinges on participation and promotes a therapeutic purpose. Art contains its own democratic vocation when it chooses to show itself through ordinary, spontaneous gestures and seeks to coexist with the everyday. The essence of the beauty of simple art is extolled by Pasolini when he wrote: ‘…I want to re-consecrate things, …I want to re-mythologise them, …we live in a culture that no longer believes in miracles…try to convey that sense of the miraculous that each of us feels when we look at the dawn’.
