Concert season: at villa Butera “Concert of Artlandia Trio”

On the occasion of the concert season, Saturday, May 11, 2024, a concert by the Artlandia Trio will be held at 7 p.m. at Villa Butera. The concert season, organized by the Bagheria cultural association “Bequadro” chaired by Ivan Gargano and promoted by Chorus Inside Sicilia chaired by conductor Salvatore Di Blasi. The Artlandia Trio consists of: Giovanni Mattaliano clarinet and compositions, Francesco Sclafani flute, Usa Ami Napawan piano. A concert project conceived by Giovanni Mattaliano who meets for the ‘occasion the Thai pianist Ami Napawan and Flutist Franco Sclafani. Concert stories to convey the sounds of Thai music together with those of Giovanni Mattaliano, a journey between tradition and new music in the mysticism that weaves in beauty, different peoples and cultures. An original program of sensitive effect.
FRANCESCO SCLAFANI,was initiated to the study of the flute by his father, a passionate and talented musician. He began the actual study with M° Gerardo Petruzziello, at the Conservatory “V.Bellini” Palermo. In 1982 he graduated with honors and immediately began to collaborate with the ‘Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, with which he will deepen for almost twenty years, much symphonic repertoire for flute and piccolo. He attended master classes in Pescara and Riva del Garda with flutist Mario Ancillotti. He followed other Masters with flaut6ists Angelo Persichilli and Giampaolo Pretto. He has had intense orchestral activity with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the San Carlo of Naples, the Arena of Verona, the Teatro Bellini of Catania, Gli Armonici and the Accademia.
GIOVANNI MATTALIANO multifaceted musician both classical and jazz, graduate in clarinet and chamber music, tenured professor of jazz clarinet (first Italian chair) at the A.Scarlatti Conservatory of Palermo. He participates with Tosca and the Nica banda in the 2007 edition of the Sanremo festival (presented and curated by Pippo Baudo on air on Rai 1) with the song “il terzo fuochista,” on summer tour at the Giorgio Gaber award, Nicola Piovani’s “Fescennino d’oro” award, Claudio Villa award and in numerous Italian cities. He recorded in 2008 the CD “voci del dove” with his own music for the et. Jazzliveimprovisation reviewed by some of the major Italian magazines. He realizes in 2009 the music and theater shows “fiati di corde”.
USA AMI NAPAWAN, pianist, ventured into the field of political science for her undergraduate studies in International Relations at Chulalongkorn University. She decided to return to music after graduating and earning her Master of Music in Piano Performance from the College of Music, Mahidol University under Dr. Nopan and Chanorathaikul. She has a long-standing artistic relationship with Pro Musica’s international collaborative singing and piano masterclasses taught by renowned vocal coach Loh Siew Tuan. She has worked closely with Ms. Tuan and renowned collaborative pianist Hein Boterberg in masterclasses held in Thailand and Malaysia in collaboration with Opera Studio Vlanderen (Belgium).
