Bagheria protagonist of the “Ship of Books”: a journey through culture, art and taste

The city of Bagheria participates in the “Una Nave di Libri” initiative, an event promoted by Agra Editrice with “Leggere:tutti” and Grimaldi Lines and the patronage of the Municipality of Bagheria, which combines literature, culture and food and wine in a journey between Naples and Palermo led by the journalist, writer and expert on the island’s gastronomy, Mario Liberto.
On November 15th, Bagheria will welcome guests of the “Nave dei Libri”, offering them an experience in Bagheria traditions to discover the rich artistic, cultural and food and wine heritage of the city.
The tour to Bagheria includes a visit to Villa Cattolica, home of the Guttuso Museum, where guests will be welcomed by the Mayor Filippo Maria Tripoli, the councilors Francesco Gurrado and Daniele Vella, and the director of the GAL MetropoliEst Salvatore Tosi.
This will be followed by the presentation of the “Gal Metropoliest 2030” project which will see Professor Davide Piacentino among the speakers, coordinated by Salvatore Tosi.
Subsequently, the participants will go to Villa Palagonia, the famous “Villa of Monsters”, where they will be able to immerse themselves in the culture of food and taste the delicacies of Bagheria gastronomy. The event is enriched by the presentation of the book “Mizzica – Dizionario gastronomico siciliano” by Francesco Lauricella and by a tasting organized by the La Piana d’oro association and the Bagheria Slow Food Convivium coordinated by the director of the All Food Sicily newspaper Michele Balistreri and by the conduct trustee Valerio Barone.Interverranno i panificatori Carlo Conti (2 pani Gambero Rosso) e Massimo Scaduto dell’Antica Forneria, vincitore di due edizioni dello Sfincione Fest. Ospiti d’onore lo chef stellato Nino Ferreri e il vice presidente del Gal Metropoliest Antonio Fricano. A seguire, degustazione di pietanze della gastronomia bagherese.
Speakers will include bakers Carlo Conti (2 Gambero Rosso loaves) and Massimo Scaduto from Antica Forneria, winner of two editions of the Sfincione Fest. Guests of honor were the starred chef Nino Ferreri and the vice president of the Gal Metropoliest Antonio Fricano. Following, tasting of Bagheria gastronomy dishes.
The tour will end with a visit to the Cantine Duca di Salaparuta, where guests will be able to taste the fine wines of one of the most important wineries at national level and participate in the presentation of Dario Stefàno’s book “Enoturismo 4.0” followed by a guided tasting of three wines representative of the production of the winery which this year celebrates 200 years since its foundation: Kados, Passo delle Mule and Ala.
