Bagheria pays homage to Ignazio Buttitta:
the roundabout in via Sant’Ignazio di Loyola flourishes, curated by Carto Aliotta

The city of Bagheria celebrates one of its most illustrious sons, the dialect poet Ignazio Buttitta. Thanks to the initiative of Carto Aliotta, the roundabout in via Sant’Ignazio di Loyola has been completely redeveloped and embellished with plants and flowers, becoming a place of homage to the memory of the great poet.
The Municipality of Bagheria sponsored the event, underlining the importance of enhancing the cultural and artistic heritage of the city.
The official inauguration of the roundabout will be held on Saturday 30 November. Starting from 4.00 pm, in the Fumagalli Martorana room of Villa Butera, a press conference will be held in which the mayor of Bagheria, Filippo Maria Tripoli, the president of the foundation Ignazio Buttitta, professor Emanuele Buttitta, maestro Carlo Puleo will participate , Professor Tommaso Romano and the director of the Duca di Salaparuta cellars, Roberto Magnisi as well as the promoter Franco Aliotta. During the conference, the poet Mariella Cirafici will read some of Buttitta’s poems.
At 5.30 pm, all participants will move to the roundabout in via Sant’Ignazio di Loyola for the ribbon cutting and performance of the choir of Sant’Ignazio di Villa San Cataldo. Maestro Francesco Maria Martorana will also be present and will accompany the choir with his guitar.
The redevelopment of the roundabout represents a tangible gesture of gratitude towards Ignazio Buttitta and his cultural legacy. The poet, with his poetry full of passion and civil commitment, contributed to making Sicilian culture and traditions known throughout the world.
