The Municipality of Bagheria supports and enhances the theatrical event ‘I Poeti e gli Eroi’, which will be staged on Sunday 9 March at 6.30 p.m. at the Monsignor Muratore Theatre in Villa Butera.
Organised by the SAN DOMENICO and KLEIS cultural associations, the show will feature cuntist and actor Salvo Piparo and multi-instrumentalist Michele Piccione, in a passionate tribute to the fathers of 20th century poetry and its heroes.
‘I Poeti e gli Eroi’ is a work that interweaves epic narratives of champions of justice, evoking figures such as Orlando and Rinaldo, with the memory of symbolic personalities such as Giovanni Falcone, Paolo Borsellino and Don Pino Puglisi. An intense journey between ideals of redemption and models of life, celebrating courage and the fight for justice.
Salvo Piparo, through the art of the cunto, will offer the audience a ‘concoction of irony and the feeling of the word’, pressing and engaging rhythms, and memories of a black and white Sicily. A narration that is also a life lesson on the beauty of our land, ‘now a treasure chest, now a generous donor of wonderful stories, poets and heroes’.
Accompanying him is the multi-instrumental talent of Michele Piccione, with a wide variety of traditional instruments, including battenti guitars, barbuke, tammorre, flutes, marranzani, for an evocative musical experience.
The Municipal Administration invites citizens to participate in this event of cultural importance, an opportunity to reflect on the value of courage and the commitment of those who have dedicated their lives to the defense of justice and legality.
