Bagheria celebrates its identity with a journey of discovery through the Baaria Plain
with the presentation of the video of the project to promote and develop the
tourist-cultural-gastronomic circuit of the Plain of Baaria

The Villa Butera Theater is preparing to host a major event in the field of tourism and food and wine promotion. On Monday, Oct. 7, from 6 p.m., in the presence of local authorities and all the actors involved in the project, the video “La Piana di Baria” a tourism promotion video of the municipality of Bagheria, produced within the Project “Promotion and development of the tourist-cultural-gastronomic circuit of the Piana di Baaria” which is led by the company R&T .
An ambitious project to enhance the heritage of the hinterland, realized thanks to the financing of PSR Sicily 2014-2022 funds, through the measure of the Call issued by Gal Metropoli Est submeasure 16. 3 for the “Support for cooperation between micro, small and medium-sized enterprises” has as its main objective the promotion of agri-food products linked to territorial identity, as formidable tools for tourism marketing and development of the Bagherese district, while promoting and facilitating tourism through the promotion and enhancement of local culinary traditions, cultural, historical and architectural heritage.
A sensory journey through flavors and traditions The video, in its full version lasting 1 hour and 22 minutes, will take viewers on a journey of discovery of the places, products and people that make the Bagheria Plain unique. From the white sfincione, ambassador of Bagheria’s culinary tradition, to the green lemon, via the Aspra anchovy and focaccia with ricotta, the video will tell the story and characteristics of these typical products, which have always been a source of pride for the area. The video tells about the most important cultural and eno-gastronomic attractions of our town, reporting opinions of operators and representatives of municipal institutions. The occasion, will also be useful for a discussion on the development of municipal and district tourism policies and the implementation of related services.
The initiative is part of the larger project to enhance the brand “Bagheria, City of Villas and Taste” which aims to position the city as one of Sicily’s most attractive tourist destinations. The 18th-century villas, with their gardens and artistic treasures, the seaside village of Aspra, with its ancient charm, and the Guttuso Museum, which houses the works of the great master, represent an invaluable cultural heritage, capable of attracting visitors from all over the world.
An unmissable event for food and wine and culture enthusiasts: during the event, conducted by City Hall journalist Marina Mancini, the protagonists will be heard: all the food and wine operators.
The event will be attended by the Mayor of Bagheria. Filippo Maria Tripoli and Tourism Councillor Francesco Gurrado, LAG Metropoli Est president Ciro Coniglio and director Salvatore Tosi, La Piana D’Oro association president Michele Balistreri, and for the R&T srl TeleOne project leader, Sergio Speciale, who edited the video with his editorial staff.
Also present will be representatives of farms, food and wine operators and local associations, who will have the opportunity to engage with the public and present their initiatives.
Following the screening of the video, a tasting of typical local products is planned, curated by the same producers who participated in the project. This will be a unique opportunity to taste the authentic flavors of the Baria Plain and to get to know the people who create them up close.
