“A novel that can only reach those who have eyes to look beyond,” is what Gabriella Labatedeclares for her book “Naked.” Known for being a model, dancer and soubrette, Gabriella Labate is also a writer. The novel is an emotional life story and two letters, one addressed to herchildren Bianca and Samuele and one to herhusband Raffaele (singer-songwriter Raf), her life partner. Two love letters, as she calls them, to tell a little more about her family, through ups and downs, joys and sorrows.
The novel traces Sara’s life, expertly narrated through a diary. Throughout the book the reader will get to know the protagonist at various stages of life: first a child, then a girl and finally a woman.
Around Sara revolve many characters who will determine her way of looking at the world with a different gaze. Prominent among them is Miki, a boy who harbors an intimate secret. A surprising and profound book, written with great intensity, where episodes of the past and experiences of the present alternate and intertwine in a growing emotional vortex, where the dramas of an entire existence will culminate in the pursuit of an ideal. An ideal stronger than injustice, stronger than suffering, stronger than life itself: love.
Passion and desire for revenge pervade the plot of the novel, which highlights how societal weaknesses are crucial to human affairs.
