“Ancora Volano Le Farfalle” arrives in Bagheria: a story of life and inclusion.
Film event, sponsored by the Municipality of Bagheria
Tuesday 8 October, at 9.00 pm
On Tuesday 8 October, at 9.00 pm, the city of Bagheria is preparing to welcome an exciting event: the screening of the film “Ancora Volano Le Farfalle” directed by the director Joseph Nenci, at the Capitol cinema (via Roma, 8 Bagheria).
Inspired by the true story of Giorgia Righi, a young woman suffering from Friedreich’s Ataxia, the film leads us to reflect on the topic of disability and the importance of building a more inclusive society. Through the meeting between a light-hearted journalist and a young woman with a strong character, the film shows us how suffering can be transformed into strength and hope.
Since its debut last November, “Ancora Volano Le Farfalle” has already conquered the Italian public, exceeding 100 screenings and enjoying great critical success. Now it’s Bagheria’s turn.
The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Bagheria, will see the participation of the mayor Filippo Maria Tripoli and the councilors for Public Education Antonella Insinga and for Social Policies Emanuele Tornatore at the screening in which the director will be present. The municipal administration strongly supports this project, considering it an important opportunity to raise awareness in the community on the issues of disability and inclusion, so much so that it intends to support the screening in schools. The Municipality of Bagheria, through councilors Insinga and Tornatore, is promoting a future viewing of the film in schools, considering it a valuable tool for addressing fundamental issues such as disability, inclusion and respect for diversity.
<<We are particularly pleased to sponsor the screening of the film ‘Ancora Volano Le Farfalle’. This film represents a unique opportunity to address highly topical issues such as disability, inclusion and respect for diversity – declares councilor Insinga – I believe it is essential that the young generations can deal with stories like this, which show us how fragility can transform into strength and how each of us, beyond our differences, has the right to live a full and satisfying life>>.
<<I am convinced – adds Mayor Filippo Maria Tripoli – that through watching this film, our boys and girls can develop greater sensitivity towards people with disabilities, learning to value differences and build a more equal and supportive. I invite everyone to participate in this event, which represents an important moment of reflection and growth for our community>>.
<<The film profoundly stimulates reflection on the delicate topic of inclusiveness towards people with disabilities>> – underlines councilor Tornatore who hopes for widespread participation.

PLOT OF THE FILM
Italo is a light-hearted journalist, always a little over the top, darkened by a wound with the past, which he cannot make peace with and which constantly distracts him from work and family commitments.
His son Andrea, Martina’s father, tries in every way to keep his spirits up by encouraging him to be a grandfather, to spend time with his granddaughter, giving him the task of accompanying her to the swimming pool every week.
As if that wasn’t enough, Italo is cornered by Chiara, the editor of the newspaper he works for, who one day summons him to her office, ordering him to find his old spark again, under penalty of dismissal.
During one of his niece Martina’s many swimming lessons, Italo notices Giorgia, a pretty girl who with whistle in hand carefully follows the people who swim, ensuring their safety in the water.
Italo is benevolently attracted by the delicacy of the young woman, he approaches her asking if he can take swimming lessons, given his lack of dexterity in the water.
A beautiful friendship will be born between Italo and the young instructor, initially little understood by Marta, Giorgia’s sister, who does not look favorably on Italo.
Giorgia does not give in to her sister’s distrust and will persist in continuing to hang out with Italo who will discover through this girl with a feisty and cheerful character and her decidedly special life the joy of living again, learning that even the deepest suffering can be transformed into awareness , acceptance and gratitude giving meaning to the fact that life is a wonderful thing, despite everything.
