On Monday 10 February, the ‘Destination Palermo’ debate was held at the International Tourism Exchange in Milan, an event attended by important institutional figures and experts in the tourism sector. Among those present at the BIT was the deputy mayor and councillor for culture of Bagheria, Daniele Vella, together with municipal councillor Armando Galeandro, who brought attention to the city’s cultural and tourist offer, but with a specific focus on the Guttuso museum.
During his speech, the councillor illustrated Bagheria’s peculiarities, emphasising the importance of its artistic and cultural heritage, as well as the liveliness of the initiatives promoted in the area. A special focus was devoted to the single ticket activated between the Guttuso Museum and the Steri on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of ‘La Vucciria’, an initiative that aims to enhance two sites of great historical and cultural interest, offering visitors a complete experience.
The ‘Destination Palermo’ talk, held at The Best of Western Sicily stand, represented an important opportunity to discuss the area’s tourism development strategies, with a focus on synergies between the various local realities. Together with the deputy mayor of Bagheria, the mayor of Palermo Roberto Lagalla and councillor Alessandro Anello, the general manager of CoopCulture Letizia Casuccio, Fabrizio Lo Verso, tourism councillor of the municipality of Monreale, the mayor of Cefalù Daniele Salvatore Tumminello and Roberto Magnisi, director of Cantine Duca di Salaparuta, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Palermo Alessandro Albanese, and the vice-president of the museum system of the University of Palermo Manfredi Leone, key figures in the promotion of tourism in the region, took part in the event.
Bagheria‘s participation in this event testifies to the municipal administration’s commitment to enhancing the territory’s resources and promoting quality, sustainable tourism that is attentive to the enhancement of its cultural heritage.
Deputy Mayor Vella and Councillor Galeandro attended the BIT at their own expense, and took the opportunity to valorise Bagheria by bringing with them various promotional and advertising material from videos that aired during the talk to printed material left at the Sicilian Region’s stand.
The municipal administration, as confirmed by the Councillor for Tourism Francesco Gurrado, will work to ensure that in the next edition of the BIT, an important event that represents a crucial appointment for operators in the tourism sector, a real observatory on the most innovative trends and a unique opportunity to share knowledge and strategies, the municipality as a district can be present with its own stand.
‘Our participation in the BIT in Milan was an important showcase for our city and our cultural heritage,’ said Deputy Mayor Daniele Vella. ’We had the opportunity to present our excellences, with a special focus on the Guttuso Museum, a real jewel that deserves to be known and appreciated by an increasingly wider public. We are convinced that the valorisation of our cultural heritage is a fundamental lever for the tourist development of the territory and we will continue to work in this direction, promoting innovative initiatives and synergies with other local realities.’
